Before you create your first Chronopad directory, you might want to know your way around the app.

In this post, you will learn how to create your first directory and fill it with your contents.

Dashboard view

Once you have logged in to the app, you will be directed to the dashboard view. If this the first time you log in to Chronopad, your dashboard will only be filled in with sample content. These contents are part of the sample Directory which you can delete from the directory menu.

Before you create any contents, let’s create the directory first.

With Chronopad, you can create multiple directory that suit your content needs. To create the directory, let’s click the Directory menu. If this is the first time you log in to Chronopad, you will see one directory in this screen i.e. the sample directory.

Directory view

Now, let’s click the New Directory button on the top right to create a new directory. It will open a dialog that prompts you to input the directory name.

Enter directory name

Enter whatever directory name you want here, then click Create. You will then be directed to the directory view where you can see all your contents and create, edit or delete your contents.

At this point, you won’t see any contents in this screen. But it will change shortly.

Directory with no contents

Let’s create our first content by clicking the Add New Content button. It will then open a popup window that you can fill in with your entry.

Filling in the journal entry

Although there are many fields in this form, actually at minimum you only need to assign a date to the content and also the content entry itself. The rest is optional.

Your first content

Congratulations, you have created your first directory. You can see that the entry is now shown in your directory view.

Slack timeline

In the example above, we are imagining as if Slack’s founders has been using Chronopad to record their company’s history and milestones to be shared with their audiences.
